Explanation of the Stimulus Bill

Stimulus Bill
Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill.  Can you explain it to me?"
The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I'll be glad to explain it to you." The student agreed.
At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his  backyard pool. They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the student a bucket.  Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said, "First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water  as you can." The student did as he was instructed.
The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end, and then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told. The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool. The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing this?" The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper.
The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but figured that he would find out the real story soon enough. However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor had gone mad. The student finally replied, "All we're doing is wasting  valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits.  Even worse, when this process  is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all  you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!"
The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile, "Congratulations.  You now understand the stimulus bill."

The Proposal

The  Proposal

When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers.The remaining workers need to find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well.  Wall street, and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision," and the board of directors gives a big bonus. 

Our government should not be immune from similar risks.  

Therefore: Reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members and Senate members from 100 to 50 (one per State). Also reduce remaining staff by 25%.
  
Accomplish this over the next 8 years. (two steps / two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting.

Some Yearly Monetary Gains Include:

$44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay/member per year).

$97,175,000 for elimination of the above people's staff. (estimate $1.3 Million in staff per each member of the House, and $3 Million in staff per each member of the Senate every year).

$240,294 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%. 

$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork barrel ear-marks each year (inserted by those members whose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government pork earmarks are at 15 Billion per year).


The remaining representatives would need to work smarter and would need to improve efficiencies. It might even be in their best interests to work together for the good of our country. 

We may also expect that smaller committees might lead to a more efficient resolution of issues as well.  It might even be easier to keep track of what your representative is doing. 

Congress has more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current number of representatives was established.  (telephone, computers, cell phones to name a few).

Note: 
Congress did not hesitate to head home when it was a holiday, when the nation needed a real fix to the economic problems.  Also, we have 3 senators who have not been doing their jobs for the past 18+ months (being on the campaign trail) and still they all have been accepting full pay.  These facts alone support a reduction in senators & congress. 

Summary of opportunity:

$ 44,108,400 reduction of congress members.

$282,100,000 for elimination of the reduced house member staff. 

$150,000,000 for elimination of reduced senate member staff. 

$59,675,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining house members. 

$37,500,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining senate members. 

$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of congress members . 

$8,073,383,400 per year, estimated total savings. (that's 8-BILLION just to start!)

Big business does these types of cuts all the time.

If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years (like everyone else) in order to collect retirement benefits there is no telling how much we would save.

Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term!

A salute to my fellow Bloggers

Folks I salute you!!
I have not been writing new blogs lately, I have focused on writing local and national congressmen lately, as well as petitions. That and my kids keep me pretty busy as well. Providing for them on a daily basis, reading them bedtime stories, getting up with them at 2:00A when they have nightmares. I do not know what the future hold for us, but I know as long as I have God, my wife and children with me, who can be against me, and in what shall I fear? I salute them as well.
 
I have been frustrated, as I am sure we all have, with all that is going on right now. I can not personally save the world....Jesus did a long time ago. I feel that way sometimes. I can not watch the news anymore without screaming. That is why I tune into Crawfish's Swamp....man you are creative!! Gunny, I love your sense of humor and sarcasm!! Bobbie, Thank You for your dedication to this group, you put in a lot of hard work!! Davecat you and Reaganac and Kevin in Florida were one of the first to welcome me to townhall. You guys rock!! Has any one heard from Reganac at all???  InTheNow, Bobs my uncle, Rackoons,Str8talk, your wisdom is remarkable and you are great teachers in my book!! James, Working Class View your passion in your words are out standing!! Jesse "the body" Norman, you are hillarious man!! American Sweetheart, you are truly inspirational and very dedicated with all you do!! Peppermint, you are a blessing to all of us! DawnDawn you have a great sense of humor as well!! I can go on...Conservative Prime,Cindy, Sue, Garnet, Saltwater, Snow Knight, Mrs Al, Crossbow, Joe, Jennifer, Dean D, Darvin Dowdy, Ender, Dr Pete, .......all of you!! For those I dont know, I will......
 
All of you are truly wonderful in your own way!! I have been bit by the frustration bug, my creativity suffers when that happens. With Meds of Family and Friends, and finding joy in simple thing ,pills help too. I'm not going anywhere, just writing less. I can only write so much and spread the word to all I know about what a failure our government is and will be.......some of them voted for this. Sometimes we get what we deserve. I salute us all, do not give up the good fight. I almost did, stay focused on the positive!! In closing, I leave you with these tidbits:

     Stimulus is where the government gives a smidgen of your tax dollars back to you making you feel so good about yourself [stimulated] that you want to run out to Wal-Mart and buy a new Chinese-made HDTV and go home  and watch Telemundo!

Bin Laden urges jihad against Israel

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden urged Muslims to launch a jihad against Israel and condemned Arab governments as allies of the Jewish state in a new message aimed at harnessing anger in the Mideast over the Gaza offensive.

Bin Laden spoke in an audiotape posted Wednesday on Islamic militant Web sites where al-Qaida usually issues its messages. It was his first tape since May and came nearly three weeks after Israel started its campaign against Gaza's militant Hamas rulers.

The al-Qaida leader also vowed that the terror network would open "new fronts" against the United States and its allies beyond Iraq and Afghanistan. He said President-elect Barack Obama has received a "heavy inheritance" from George W. Bush -- two wars and "the collapse of the economy," which he said will render the United States unable to sustain a long fight against the mujahedeen, or holy warriors.

"There is only one strong way to bring the return of Al-Aqsa and Palestine, and that is jihad in the path of God," bin Laden said in the 22-minute audiotape, referring to the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. "The duty is to urge people to jihad and to enlist the youth into jihad brigades."

"Islamic nation, you are capable of defeating the Zionist entity with your popular capabilities and your great hidden strength -- without the support of (Arab) leaders and despite the fact that most of (the leaders) stand in the barracks of the Crusader-Zionist alliance," bin Laden said.

The authenticity of the tape could not be independently confirmed, but the voice resembled that of bin Laden in previous messages.

The tape, entitled "a call for jihad to stop the aggression on Gaza," was played over a still picture of bin Laden and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City, one of Islam's holiest sites. But there were no English subtitles and flashy production graphics that usually accompany such messages.

That suggested the message had been hastily put together and issued to best exploit anger in the region over the Gaza offensive, which Palestinian medical officials say has killed more than 940 Palestinians, half of them civilians. Israel said the offensive aims to halt rocket fire from Gaza against Israeli towns.
Bin Laden accused Arab leaders of "avoiding their responsibility" to liberate Palestine.

"If you are not convinced to fight, then open the way to those who are convinced," he said.

Bin Laden and his lieutenants frequently use the Palestinian issue to try to rally support for al-Qaida and often call for holy war to free Jerusalem. But there has been little sign that the terror group has carried out attacks in Israel. Bin Laden made no direct reference to Hamas, which seized power in Gaza in 2007.

Al-Qaida leaders have frequently criticized the Palestinian militant group for participating in elections and failing to seriously pursue jihad against Israel.

The al-Qaida leader also said the world economic crisis was a sign that the United States' power was falling apart, boasting that "the Islamic nation's jihad is one of the main causes of these destructive results for our enemies."

Pointing to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, bin Laden said al-Qaida was prepared to fight "for seven more years, and seven more after that, then seven more."

"We are on the way to opening new fronts," he said, urging Muslims to "join hands with the mujahedeen to continue the jihad against the enemy, to continue bleeding them on these two fronts and on the others that are open to you."

"The question is, can America continue the war against us for several more decades? The reports and signs show us otherwise," he said. He said Bush had left his successor "with a heavy inheritance," forcing Obama to choose between withdrawing from the wars or continuing.

"If he withdraws from the war, it is a military defeat. If he continues, he drowns in economic crisis," bin Laden said.
It was the first time bin Laden have spoken of Obama, though he did not mention him by name. Bin Laden's top deputy Ayman al-Zawahri has previously spoken against Obama, warning Muslims he will not bring major change in U.S. policies.

Take his words with a grain of salt....knowing that Administration is about to change, and they are mostly naive, they are trying every angle to keep us on our toes and guessing . However...take this seriously as well, with the Israeli situation blowin up...these are crucial times.

Support for Israel rally, State Capitol, Denver Jan 11 2009

I found myself at the State Capitol steps with my two daughters in their stroller, in the wind. I had debated whether or not I should go to this. My wife was at her parents helping them paint the inside of their house. So I packed em up, and took a ride to the city. I just felt I needed to be there. At first I was only going to drive by a couple of times and snap a few photos, but when I got to the gauntlet....I could not believe my eyes. I had to get in there. I personally took the photo below. Unfortunately the only one because, I forgot the memory card and the internal memory was full.

The supporters of Israel, on the east side of the street on the steps of the capitol, and accross the street, in Civic Center Park,
the enemy. Only 5 my oldest daugher asked"Why are we here Daddy?" I said for the brotherhood of mankind....I know she did not understand. The Israeli supporters were about 2,000, and for Palestine 1,500 (rough estimate). The bull horn amplified over speakers from the Palestinian supporters constantly chanting "Save our people, Save our Nation, Israel is a terroist nation" I was shaking my head in amazement os those shallow words. I walked up to a man and his two sons holding up a huge flag of Israel, he smiled and asked me what I thought. I told him this was amazing, and the had a lot of nerve holding signs of "Free Palestine", when they could have been free years ago, and they were puppets of Iran and Syria. "It gives them excuses to lob bombs at Israel, if they are not free" They both want Israel wiped off the face of the earth. He mentioned the real scary part is those pepole over there actually believe they are right. I agreed.
 
He also stated he wanted to bring his sons out to expirience what things are really like out there. They must have been 13 and 11 years old.
We spoke of how no one from the middle east region really never spoke up about the atrocities in World War II, and Israel has been fighting for THEIR exsistantce ever since. I asked him what his name was, his name was James, and told him mine, and shook his hand , said it was a pleasure
and that he was a good man. I was really starting to get heated up, at was at this point, I decided to cross the street.
 
Seeing more signs of Free Palestine and chants of "Shame.....shame...Israel" "Save our Children". They were so loud I could not even hear the pro Israel supporters that well. I noticed two people handing out propaganda on the otherside of the crosswalk, for some reason they left quickly when I approached with my "FDNY" hat on with a very sour look on my face.I would have LOVED receiving some CD and pro Palestinain crap. I circled their group from behind, at that point they announced they would break and pray to Allah. That did it for me....As I was walking I prayed, that God would put a spirit of confusion over this group, that he was the only true God,to stop the evil that occurs from Islam. I had to cross back to the other side....
 
On the Israeli side, I waked right up the middle, chants of "Long live Israel" and signs of God will prevail were seen. Things almost got out of hand when, one man with no traffic, ran right down the middle of the street with an Israeli flag to cheers from the east side.Soon after, one of the Palestinain supporters managed to take a smaller Israeli flag from a vehicle and thow it at that car, and ran and stomped it on the street, wiping his feet all over it contiuously. I took my kids back to the car soon after this.
 
In all I stayed about 45 minutes, thinking about the events, most all the people present were all Americans. Terror does not discriminate, if a bomb took out that entire block who would be to blame?? 
 
THEY HAD A LOT OF NERVE HAVING THE AMERICAN FLAG, ON THE PALESTINIAN SIDE!!!!! As God as my witness, If I was younger and my children were not present, and I was single, I would have been in jail. In the end, I saw Black,White, Brown....people of all colors on both sides. This is a World wide problem, this affects us all. There is a good and an evil, people just can not seem to get it. Lord, I thank you for not letting my temper get the best of me, I pray wherever evil is, whatever form, person, ideal, conjuring plan, spirit...whatever the case may be. Lord put a spirit of confusion over it, disallow the finances that support it, break their very will and blind their eyes. Please protect the nation of Israel and our nation from harm, send your gaurdian angels to protect us in these days. In your name above any other name, AMEN!!
 
 
We have forgotten the impact of 9/11. It is apparent that when a Palestinian supporter grabs an Israeli flag and stomps on it, it may as well have been an American flag being stepped on. We support Israel, they did not dance in the streets when the two towers fell. THAT IS EXACTLY WHY THE USA FLAG HAD NO BUSINESS DISPLAYED OVER ON THAT SIDE!!! Traitors of our country hear this,
You will deny you are...but those that know the truth, know you are fake. You will never silence us!! It would be a pleasure and an honor to be on CAIR's watch list. I may have made it!
 
Here is a news headline...

DENVER - Two different groups with two very different views about the current Israeli-Hamas conflict in the Middle East protested in Denver Sunday. 

The groups, one pro-Palestinian and the other pro-Israeli came face-to-face at the state capitol.

They protested across the street from each other. The Colorado Palestine Coalition strongly condemns what it calls the Israeli onslaught against the Palestinian people of Gaza. The other group, Americans against Terrorism, says Israel has the right to self-defense.

The Denver Police says the protest was mostly peaceful. There were no arrests.

The quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight
  • The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight.
  • Common sense; good judgment: "It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things" (Henry David Thoreau).
  • The sum of learning through the ages; knowledge: "In those homely sayings was couched the collective wisdom of generations" (Maya Angelou).

    • All the above are true.Wisdom, too is the "ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding.

    The ability to discern right from wrong....good vs evil is a good charicteristic of wisdom.
     
    Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and clever in their own sight! (  Isaiah 5:20-21)
     
     For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, Guarding the paths of justice, and He preserves the way of His godly ones. Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good course. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; Discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you, To deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things; From those who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; ( Proverbs 2:6-13)
     
    Wisdom, too comes from experience , my Grandfathers were wise men....All Granfathers have wise sayings like" Those that do not hear....Feel" "Not to decide IS to decide not to" "Is it a fork, or is it a bump in the road....What is my choice??"
     
    Following the ways of Wisdom helps bring us in harmony with God because these ways are in accordance with His will, and also brings us in harmony with other persons because respect for others is the very essence of the Commandments. Acting with Wisdom brings us in harmony with ourselves, giving us a sense of self-worth and inner peace. This inner peace is achieved because we are acting in accordance with our consciences and avoiding the shame and guilt of following our baser instincts. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly.- Proverbs 3:18
     
    The way a person conducts himself can be attributed to wisdom. Remaining silent on a "ship of fools", for instance is wise. Silence is Golden at times.This can be at a work place, a gathering, whatever the case may be.
     
     Is there such a thing as wise blasphemy?? Look at the words you hear on a daily basis, and discern which ones are wise. How many would that be? Wisdom is about being taught, listening and learning from it, wether it be from success or failure. Who practices this these days?
    " Is simplicity best...or simply the easiest? The narrowest path is always the holiest".Proverbs 4:18-19 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.
     
    Through wisdom we can rise above the pettiness and disappointments of everyday life. Through wisdom and faith we can find our place in the universe and our reason for being. Wisdom puts meaning into our lives and frees us from the emptiness of a life spent searching for wealth, power or status.Each person who tries to follow wisdom's path makes the world a little bit better and finds his or her personal fulfillment along the way.
     
    At one time, having wisdom meant you were revered, respected and admired, for what and who you were and what you stood for. In todays times, I doubt many people could give a definition of wisdom. People have a tendency to lash out and make fun or ridicule thinngs they cant comprehend or understand fully. It draws attention away from their shortcomings, and focuses on how stupid or rediculous..etc, sombody else is."Right is Right, even if nobody is doing it and wrong is wrong, even if everybody is doing it."

    Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax  -  10.25% highest in country. (Look it up).

    Chicago school system  -  rated one of the worst in the country.

    Of course, they're all blaming each other. They can't blame Republicans because there aren't any.

    This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . 

    And he's going to '"fix" Washington politics for us?

    President Clinton claimed at a fundraiser for John Kerry to have kissed the Blarney Stone, although Jay Leno reckoned he’d initially denied it claiming "the stone kissed him.”

    A group of Americans were touring Ireland. One of the women in the group was constantly complaining. The bus seats are uncomfortable. The food is terrible. It's too hot. It's too cold. The accommodations are awful.

    A Holiday message to our troops

    I have sent Christmas cards to our troops and E-mails with this message to people I know. I figured I should post this as well.
    Those of you who are, or have been,or have familiy members, or even know military personnel, please pass this to them.
    I know some of them feel forgotten by the counrty that sent them on their mission. I wish I could send this to every soldier out there.

    Dear Hero,

    I may not know you, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping our country, myself, wife and two daughters free. I pray God protects you in your journeys, wherever you may go, and whatever wounds you may have received in the past, that they would heal completely for you.

    Civilian life maybe taken for granted by some, it is not with me. I appreciate all that you do, without you, we would not be the greatest nation on the planet. You make me proud to be an American!!

    I wanted to let you know this and that you are not forgotten. You have our utmost respect and admiration!

    Heavenly Father,
     
    I come before you in this day ask you forgiveness for my sins against you, wether I am aware of them or not. I ask for your guidance and strength in this day, so that my actions and reactions would be ones of you, and the decisions I would make would be ones that you would make.
     
    I give thanks to you for all that you have provided us with, the home we have,the food you provide,our family and friends,for keeping our country safe, the abilities that we have,.....so many things that we often take for granted.
     
    I pray for our country and our saftey, that you would continue to bless us, give our nations leaders the wisdom and discernment to do the right things...protect them. I pray for our Military, wherever they may be,whatever battle they may face, that you would guide and protect them from all enemies.
     
    I pray for the nation of Israel, that you would protect her from all those that would do harm against her. I pray for our true allies in this world as well for the same.
     
    Lord send us your Holy Spirit, and Guardian Angels to watch over and protect my wife and daughters, friends and family, co -workers, and blogger buddies, to all people everywhere that need you, that are fighting the good fight. Please protect us and deliver us from the evil one, and his attacks against us. Lord we would ask as we make a stand against evil that you would place a spirit of confusion over those who would do these deeds, break the financial ties, the communication, their abilities and thier very will.
     
    I pray for the Missionaries in the mission field doing your work, that you woild protect them and keep them safe from harm as well, and for those that do not know you, that you would administer to them and they would come to know you.
     
    I pray that we do not take things for granted, and only come to you when we need you, but to develop a personal relationship with you is what you desire. I ask of these requests, would you honor these lord? Would you do them? I have the Faith and belief in you for such.

    I took all the above photos in my travels after Sept 11 th 2001 and in Oct of 2002. The disagreement, disorder,dispise,contempt for others,fame of martyrdom, whatever the case may be, that will cause others take matters of who lives and who dies, like a God,and inflict acts of terror. I have seen the remains, and heard the stories of acts of their deeds in Manhattan,Oklahoma City and Northern Ireland. No matter what location across the globe, the fact remains that they are acts of cowardice.
     
    On Sept 12, 2001 our world here in the United States changed (or should have) forever. I for one will never forget the smoke still pouring from the Pentagon a week and half later. Or the strong chlorine smell from ground zero. America...why have we forgotten??
     
    Some would take offense to armed guards posted at our airports. Me, I welcome it. Racial profiling of those of Arabic decent, sorry......if all terrorists were Anglo Saxon, I would profile them too. We should. Profile everyone......more. We are still very naive to terrorism, even after our first "wake up call". Have we really been doing our job with homeland security, or have we just been lucky? I personally believe we have been doing a pretty good job....do not let up, overconfidence is a weakness. Stay Alert.....they will be back. Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8.
     
    I guess in our everyday, busybodied world we often forget about things. They say time heals all wounds. Healing is one thing, but forgetting......I would rather the wound did NOT heal at all. I give thanks to President Bush for keeping us safe thus far 8 years later.
     
    To the next Administration:
    Do not negotiate with them, do not be friends with them, do not trust them. Break any ties with them whatsoever.
     
    To all Americans:
    Wake up from your Wi system,I-phone,I-pods,TV's and text messages. Get familiar with the program. Read a "real" history book, and you Bibles (if you dare), and recognize that there is a real evil in this world(and it is not our government).Society has been dumbed down from these things.
     
    Our enemies look at us and laugh because of our differences between left and right, and our fighting between the two.They view us as weak.Throw in the fact that we are naive,(and they know it), play video games, are uneducated (to a point),watch TV and movies all the time....they are probably rolling in the isles. They study us and our habits more than we think, every chance they have to exploit a weakness, they will try. Most Americans probably do not realize that fact....they are on the phone, downloading music, texting etc.
    Technolgy, will either save us, or kill us, I am not sure which.

    No matter what your political convictions are this is an eye opener....What a thankless people we are!!!

    David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....

    'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.' 'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'

    A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

    B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

    C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

    D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

    E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state.

    F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

    G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

    H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

    I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

    J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

    K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

    L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

    M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

    Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

    Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

    I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

    Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' discharge after a few days in the brig.

    So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

    Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

    Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

    Accountability

    That message says a lot. Society is consantly changing, but being responsible of our actions and reactions is something that in this day and age....again is overlooked. It is an obligation, or willingness to accept responsibility. But is it an obligation to one's self or to society, or both? In some cases neither. Accountability breeds Responsibility. Take it up a step higher..."Moral conduct includes every thing in which men are active and for which they are accountable. They are active in their desires, their affections, their designs, their intentions, and in every thing they say and do of choice; and for all these things they are accountable to God."

    "Perhaps nothing in our society is more needed for those in positions of authority than accountability. Too often those with authority are able (and willing) to surround themselves with people who support their decisions without question."
     
    Accounatability comes in different levels from political to personal, in all aspects of life, work,school,personal, etc. The way we conduct our lives, has an impact on others. You can cause somone to be affected in a negative fashion, by our words alone. To what degree, is different to each individual. You are accountable for that...you may not even know it. You are being watched, by people at times, but more importantly by God.
     
    Romans 14:12 says, "So then each of us shall give account of himself to God." This is personal accountability.
