The State of our Society

Did Republicans loose the election because of the power of money?
Did Selfishness, and the "What's in it for me" attitude come into play?

I took my two girls, ( 5yrs and 3yrs) to a local mall here in Colorado yesterday. I guess it has always been like this, but I just can not believe how inconsiderate people are. I know I am not supposed to judge, but actions and reactions on how a person conducts himself will give you a picture of how that person may be. I say may because I will give the benefit of doubt. If you are not concerned about who may see or hear what you say and do, then I rest  my case.

You can see it in the way people drive, speak, act etc...what people portray of themselves. What infuences their lives, are what usually influences what they dicatate to the rest of society.

In the mall, across about 20 yards away, there was a girl, late teens early 20's, in an electric wheelchair, as she was rolling allong, she stoped to admire different things like the people and things on the upstairs balcony and her multicolored rubber squishy bracelets. All the while, she had a smile on here face and she expressed a real geniune joy in these things. You could see it IN HER actions and reactions to these things.

The dozens of people that were walking past her, coming into basically direct contact with her, would avoid her, pretend she was not there, all the while, much less not even smiling, from what I could see. A smile goes a long way. As a whole are people just naturally iconsiderate, insensative and just concerned for their only well being. I understand times are tough all over and it seems like the Holiday season accenuates the issue even more in my opinion. "Get out of my way... I am in a hurry, I need to get this done, I dont have time for the likes of you, I am more important than you, I have to buy this."

This is what happens when peer pressures of the world get to us. To be a follower, and jump off this cliff like we do, do as we do, watch a little more TV and speak what we speak and buy what we buy . We need a few more more leaders in this world, that will ruffle a few feathers and stand up for what is right. But fear sets in because you will be ridiculed for that, and you wan't to be "labeled".

I have seen a bumpersticker that would sum up the state of our current society " He who dies with the most toys, wins". Do you plan your life around material things, or do find joy in the simplest of things? Like the girl in the wheelchair.
